LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A central Nebraska man was sentenced in federal court Friday for a fentanyl charge.

Jesse Flanagan, 36, of Hastings got two years and three months in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bazis also sentenced him to two years of post-prison supervised release.

On Sept. 23, 2023, Flanagan was driving on Interstate 80 when two Nebraska state troopers pulled him over, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

He and his passenger were separated, and she told troopers that he gave her a bag of fentanyl pills to hide as the traffic stop began.

Troopers found the bag, which authorities said contained 656 fentanyl pills.
