‘He was angry … really angry’: Lincoln man recalls walking into Casey’s before standoff

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man on Thursday shared the story of his encounter with the suspect in a northwest Lincoln shootout.

Jason Hansen said he walked into the Casey’s at Northwest 12th Street and West Cornhusker Highway on Tuesday shortly after Michael Glaser did.

He said he walked over to the coolers to get a drink when Glaser shouted at him.

“He’s like, ‘Get the f out now!'” Hansen said. “I looked at him for a second, and I’m like, ‘Is this guy serious?'”

Hansen said he realized the danger and walked out of the store.

“You could just see in his eyes,” he said. “You could tell he was angry. Like, really angry.”

Hansen said he didn’t have his cellphone on him, so he walked down the street to another Casey’s to tell them what was going on.

“I was like, ‘There’s a guy in there, he just told me to get out,'” he said. “By the time I walked out of that Casey’s, there was already cops with their lights and sirens going on towards there.”

Police said Glaser shot and officers and was wounded when they returned fire.

He has been released from the hospital and is facing 10 felony charges, including false imprisonment and terroristic threats.

Hansen said he wishes he could’ve done more but was relieved that everyone made it out OK.

“Their safety is always a concern, really, especially working the later hours,” he said. “But I’m glad no one was seriously hurt.”
