Health officials report confirmed measles case in western Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska health officials on Tuesday reported a confirmed measles case in Sheridan County.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said a vaccinated child, who has no recent out-of-state travel history, contracted measles.
Officials noted that there could be a potential spread within the community. People may have been exposed to measles at two locations:
- Family Dollar in Rushville on May 17 from 9 a.m. to noon
- Gordon Clinic in Gordon on May 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Anyone with known measles exposure and no confirmed immunity needs to stay home for 21 days from the date of exposure, the health department said.
Measles symptoms include fever, runny nose, cough and rash, according to health officials.

As of May 23, over 1,000 cases of measles have been reported across the U.S., according to the CDC.
