Heat is back in time for Labor Day weekend
As we find ourselves in early September, change will be coming throughout the month. By the end, average high temperatures will be in the middle 70s, and overnight lows will be closer to the upper 40s.
We also say goodbye to our sunsets at 8:00 p.m. or later. On September 30th, sunset will be closer to 7:00 p.m.
High temperatures on Saturday were around the upper 90s and low 100s. Is this normal for early September? Kind of. Our record for the 2nd of September is 106°, so we weren’t close to that.
About a third of the time throughout history, we end up with days over 90°. Since 1887, September 1st has been at or warmer than 90° around 43 times.
By the end of the month, the frequency drops off as we should continue to trend cooler this month.
This September, we’ll continue to see the heat. This time, it comes without the overwhelming humidity. It’ll still be hot, though.
Through Labor Day, we’ll be right around the record temperature of 102° for both Sunday and Monday. Order up! Sunny, hot and breezy to go!
A cold front will arrive late Tuesday, which should knock temperatures back down a bit. With that, there’s a spotty chance to see rain. It’s not a great looking chance to pick up anything meaningful, with more rain possible by the end of the week.
Hot conditions overall will continue through Labor Day, with Sunday and Monday having a similar feel.
