Cooler Temps Wednesday through Saturday — But More Storms Possible
Wednesday brings some relief, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. However, scattered storms look to redevelop in parts of eastern Nebraska during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms could be strong to severe. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts through the next few days.
Monday and Tuesday, temperatures staying hot with plenty of sunshine. Tuesday night, a cold front will move in, bringing strong to severe storms across the state. Wednesday, temperatures drop down into the low 80s with showers and storms likely in the afternoon and evening hours.
An EXTREME HEAT WARNING (Pink) and HEAT ADVISORY (Orange) are still in place for the majority of the state through Monday. Above average temperatures and high dew points will force the heat index into the triple digits over the coming days. Heat indices could reach up to 115 degrees in southeast Nebraska.
Monday afternoon, high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s for most of us. Temperatures will begin to cool off a few degrees after Monday.
Just like Sunday, temperatures will feel like the mid to upper triple digits by peak afternoon hours Monday. Good news, this will look to be our hottest and grossest day before our cool down begins.
A MARGINAL risk for severe weather is in place for the whole state of Nebraska Tuesday. Main threats with these disorganized storms will be damaging winds, small hail and heavy rain leading to flooding in spots. This risk will likely get upgraded to a SLIGHT risk due to the damaging wind threat. There is still uncertainty with storm timing and placement as this could render many factors for Tuesday and Wednesday.
StormCast shows some storms developing in north central Nebraska Monday afternoon and evening. Some storms could become severe due to damaging winds and hail. The storms Monday evening will die out by the late night hours. Tuesday afternoon and evening, a cold front will begin to sink into the state launching off some clusters of storms. The initial storms will have the greatest severe potential. These storms will move east overnight Tuesday, carrying a damaging wind threat and heavy rain threat into Wednesday.
A HOT Monday before temperatures gradually cool off! Tuesday night into Wednesday, a cold front moves in bringing storms and cooler temperatures. Temperatures will remain in the 70s and lower 80s through next Sunday. There will be daily scattered rain chances everyday after Wednesday.
