Help For Homeowners With CertainTeed Shingles

Over the weekend, Channel 8 told you about a growing problem with a shingles company and now, many people are wondering how to get reimbursed.
The faulty CertainTeed Shingles haven't been made since 2005.
But people around town still have the shingles on their roof and are angry and confused.
But a company here in Lincoln says they can help.
It's a product that is costing some home owners thousands of dollars to replace…
A faulty shingle made from organic materials and ashpalt that curls and can fall off during heavy rain.
“I had to use a yellow bucket to pick all that up. I could see a little damp here and there but every time it rained there was more coming down into the gutters,” Joyce Skala of Lincoln said.
A class action law suit against the CertainTeed Coorportation' has been growing nationally.
But Stonebrook Roofing here in Lincoln says they've handled hundreds of claims with Certain Teed.
And they can to help.
“From actually when they make the call, wondering what the issues are, to discovering whether the shingle is warranted for a claim, to making sure in the end you receive a check,” Steve Kunkle Of Stonebrook Roofing said.
Homeowners can do claims themselves, its just a matter of doing the paperwork.
And Kunkle says there is money to be given to those customers with defective shingles.
But only for the life-span left on them, and not without some stipulations.
“The CertainTeed company is not going to warrantee the labor, nor are they going to warrantee the other accessory products, their only liable for the actual product they are representing,” Kunkle said.
To file a claim you will need a picture of both the front and back of the house and two faulty shingles.
Kunkle told us that in the past, CertainTeed has given out coupons if you replace the shingles with another CertainTeed product.
