Hickman man gets decades in prison for sexually assaulting girl

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Hickman was sent to prison Thursday for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Joshua Brokering, 43, was sentenced to 42 to 45 years for first-degree sexual assault.

He could be eligible for parole in 21 years.

Court documents say Brokering assaulted the girl five or six times at his home in January 2024.

He was initially charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child, a higher-class felony.

But that was reduced under a plea deal, and two other charges were dropped.

He will be a registered sex offender for life.
