High school football preview: Lincoln High School building from the ground up

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After a 2-7 season in 2023, Lincoln High School is hoping to build the foundations for the future in 2024.

“We lost a lot of seniors, so a lot of replacements are going to be needed here,” coach Mark Macke said. “Excited to see how they are going to develop.”

Leading the way this season is a pair of seniors hoping to guide this team to greener pastures.

“Whether that’s just working out really hard on the field or team chemistry, of course, I want everything to click and have a winning record,” senior tight end Troy Wiltshire said.

For senior linebacker Cole Butler, he is focused on building up his young teammates.

He said he wants to “help them be the best they can be.”

The Links start their season on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. against Omaha Bryan.
