“We had one of the toughest schedules in the state, but that’s a great thing ’cause that shows us were the bar is,” head coach Sean Wieting said.
The Warriors return some key players on both sides of the ball.
“One percent better has kind of been our motto in camp here,” said senior tight end and defensive end Grant Kuhlmann. “Just day by day, doing the little things, doing the ordinary things extraordinary.”

The South Dakota State commit is one of a host of returning players hoping to make an impact this season.
Lincoln Lutheran also returns senior quarterback Braxton Glines, leading senior receiver Trenton Ernst and leading senior running back Henry Prokop.
“We have a great group of seniors,” Wieting said. “They love each other, and they want to be together as a unit and get one final great ride.”
The Warriors start the season on Aug. 29 against Lincoln Christian at 7 p.m. in the battle for the spirit sword.
Nate’s four keys:
- Lean on returning offensive trio: (Glines: 2,037 passing yards, 20 touchdown passes; Ernst: 691 receiving yards, three touchdowns; Prokop: 489 rushing yards, five 5 rushing touchdowns.)
- Wide receiver duo Ernst and Charles Caldwell need to be more of a threat in the end zone. They combined for six TDs last season. The Warriors graduated last season’s receiving touchdown leader, Koston Maul (nine TDs)
- Get Kuhlmann more involved in the offense. (Hauled in 73 yards last season at TE.)
- Don’t look ahead. Tough start to the year with Lincoln Christian and Auburn. Tough finish to the year with Bishop Neumann and Malcolm.
