High-traffic Lincoln bridge to close Monday
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Thursday announced the closure of a north Lincoln bridge.
On Monday, the First Street bridge over Oak Creek, between Charleston Street and Cornhusker Highway, will close for maintenance.
According to officials, the project is expected to be completed this summer.
The recommended detour route is Sun Valley Boulevard to 11th Street to Cornhusker Highway to First Street.
Pedestrians can use the bridge during the project, but brief closures may be necessary. Advance notice will be provided as needed, officials said.
Business access will be maintained via Sun Valley Boulevard and Charleston Street.
Those going to the Sandhills Global Youth Complex should access North First Street via Cornhusker Highway.
