Holmes Lake installs a new dock on the south shore

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A new dock was dedicated Thursday to a man who loved Holmes Lake.

The family of Donald J. Berger II said Holmes Lake was his happy place.

An old, rundown dock was replaced with a brand-new one that’s handicap-accessible and has a kayak launch.

In total, the project cost about $90,000.

It was entirely privately funded, with a large portion of the funds chipped in by the Berger family.

Others donations came from patrons.

“It’s really a testament to how much people love their parks and how much Holmes Lake means to a lot of folks.” said Randy Gordon, director of the Lincoln Parks Foundation.
