Homestead National Historical Park hosting events Labor Day weekend
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Homestead National Historical Park is hosting several events over Labor Day weekend. History Extravaganza is happening on Saturday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Historic chore demonstrations and crafts will be led by volunteers.
The annual old fashioned spelling bee and ice cream social is happening on Labor Day from 10 a.m. to noon at the Freeman School. You’ll be able to complete games and activities that school children would have played back in the homestead era.
There is no entry fee required to participate in the spelling bee or ice cream social, and trophies will be awarded for the first and second place winner in each age category. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
