Homicide investigation underway after body is found east of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A body was found Tuesday afternoon in a field east of Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.
Crews were clearing trees around 3:30 p.m., when they found a body near 98th Street and Havelock Avenue, just east of the Lancaster Event Center.
The area where they found the body was blocked overnight to preserve the scene.
“By the time we got our resources out there, it was turning dark,” he said. “We didn’t want to miss anything.”
Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Lincoln Police Department were in the area Wednesday morning searching for evidence.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a homicide.
“It is highly suspicious,” he said.
It’s unknown if the body is a male or a female, according to Houchin. An autopsy has been scheduled.
But Houchin said the body is not Tyler Goodrich, who went missing from his Lancaster County home on Nov. 3.
