Honor the Fallen 5K at Good Life Fitness

It was the sixth annual Honor the Fallen 5K at Good Life Fitness.
Good Life partnered with Blue Blood Brewery, the Lincoln Police Dept. and Sheriff’s Office for a 5K obstacle race. The runners climbed up hills, pulled tires and so much more.
More than 200 runners laced up their shoes to honor police officers who died in the line of duty and to support Lincoln’s current officers.
“Supporting law enforcement, especially the fallen warriors, so definitely pay tribute to those guys, you know, good environment, good people, you know, this is a great place to be,” Ben Clinch, a runner in the 5K, said.
“My grandpa was an officer for Lincoln police department and he was killed in the line of duty back in 1966, so I felt that this was a good way to come out and honor my grandfather’s memory,” Frank Soukup, a runner, said.
Dozens of friends, family members and officers came out to support those tossing tires around, running through the woods and climbing over walls.
“It’s a great way for us to raise money, but it’s also a nice boost for us to see everybody out here supporting the officers that are currently working and those that have gone before us,” Cpt. Michael Woolman, LPD, said.
“Just bringing in this community, and for just showing the support for those who protect and serve us on a daily basis, and you know the Lincoln Police Dept. and Sheriff’s Office they do a wonderful, job and it’s just a great way to give back to them and their service to us,” Steve Auxier, owner and operator of Good Life Fitness, said.
100 percent of the money raised is going towards the creation of a new outdoor memorial for LPD and LSO.
The 5K started and ended at Good Life Fitness, but the runner could head to Blue Blood Brewery after for a free beer and lunch.
