Horse reining competition in Lincoln gallops into the weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Sandhills Global Event Center has another fun competition running this weekend.

The Central Plains Reining Horse Association is holding a horse reining competition.

Reining showcases riders’ training abilities.

The horses must perform a certain pattern like a dance routine. There are 18 patterns altogether that every horse must know.

Judges award points based on how well a pattern is performed.

The Spring Fling competition has everyone from rookies to professionals competing in their own skill levels for a cash prizes.

One rider will even qualify for the biggest reining competition, The Run For A Million, which will be held in Las Vegas in August.

The Spring Fling continues Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is free to the public.
