Hot and humid Father’s Day with growing storm chances

A hot and muggy Father’s Day forecast. Temperatures will be in the 70s by 7am and warm up into the upper 80s and lower 90s. Dew points will also be in the mid to upper 60s, which means temperatures will feel like the mid 90s. There will be a small chance for some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours.

StormCast shows some strong to severe storms out west through tonight. Sunday morning, some of us will be seeing some sunshine and possibly an isolated thunderstorm in NE Nebraska just before the afternoon. Sunday evening, some models aren’t agreeing with each other on thunderstorm activity in parts of SE Nebraska. This model shows the best storm activity lined up with the SLIGHT risk out west. Depending on where the instability moves tomorrow afternoon, parts of Eastern Nebraska will be looking at getting a few non- severe thunderstorms by Sunday evening.

Sunday, a SLIGHT risk is in place for most of west central Nebraska. A MARGINAL risk for surrounding areas. Storms look to develop in the late afternoon hours and push east through the evening.

There is a small chance for a few brief spin up tornadoes in parts of west central Nebraska.

Monday, a SLIGHT risk for severe weather is in place for most of the state. A MARGINAL risk for parts of SE Nebraska. The slight risk could get shifted to cover SE Nebraska by Sunday. Storms will look to develop along a cold front Monday afternoon through Monday night. The main threats with these storms will be large hail and damaging winds.

Monday, StormCast shows sunny skies throughout the day and hot temperatures. By Monday evening, a cold front will move into the state, which will develop a line of storms from South Dakota to SW Nebraska. This line of storms will move SE through Monday night.

Tuesday looks to be the best chance for severe weather in the southern half of the state. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns.
