Hot and Windy Saturday, More Active Weather Pattern Returns

While warmer temperatures continue for much of the state on Saturday, western portions of the state have a chance to see severe weather this afternoon and evening. There is a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) for portions of the panhandle. Quater-size hail and 60+ mile per hour wind gusts will be possible.

Here is the latest run of Stormcast for this afternoon and throughout the day Sunday. Storm chances return to the Capital City tomorrow, with a small chance of severe weather.
There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) risk along the Kansas-Nebraska border on Sunday. While the severe threat is small, we could still see quarter-size hail and 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts in stronger storms.
Forecast:
Hot and windy for gameday in the Capital City! High temperatures today will reach the lower 90s with mostly sunny skies. Winds will be strong and out of the south between 20 and 25 miles per hour, gusting to 40 miles per hour!
Warmer temperatures, low humidity, and high winds will present favorable wildfire conditions across central Nebraska. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 10 p.m. on Saturday.

High temperatures begin to cool tomorrow, with most of southeast Nebraska in the lower to middle 80s.
Mostly sunny for most of Sunday before storm chances reach the Capital City on Sunday evening. Another breezy day as well, with winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour.
Storm chances continue heading into the start of the work week. Fall temperatures return to the forecast after a cold front passes through on Sunday. Storm chances decrease by the end of next week, with temperatures staying closer to average in the 70s.
