Hottest day of the year arrives tomorrow

It will be humid and warm overnight across the area with temperatures dropping down to the upper 70s. Early tomorrow morning a few spotty sprinkles and showers are possible far southeast of the state with most of the region staying dry. By the afternoon, most of the area will be in the lower 90s with heat index values around 107 degrees and mostly sunny skies. We keep warming up into the evening, and eventually top out around 98 degrees with heat index values making it feel like 110 degrees. Due to the heat, most of central and eastern Nebraska are under a heat advisory from 1–8pm tomorrow. The good news is that it will be breezy for most of the day with gusts around 25mph which might provide some relief from the heat. Looking ahead at the next few days, temperatures drop back to average and rain returns.
