Humidity out, cooler temperatures in to close out July
Cool temperatures are the story for Thursday night, maybe cool enough to keep the windows open overnight. There will be some higher-level clouds that move through the area tonight, but not enough to allow a cool down into the upper 50s. Winds will remain calm and out of the north to northeast as a new upper-level system looks to settle in.
For the last day of the work week for many, high temperatures will look similar to Thursday, reaching about the mid 80s for Lincoln and surrounding areas. The high will just be below the normal high of about 89° for Friday. The key tomorrow will be dew point temperatures in the low to mid 50s, settling in for low humidity and comfortable weather. Our winds will be light and variable for the afternoon.
This weekend will mark the last couple days of July, and with it, our last chance for cooler days. With the turn of the calendar, an upper-level pattern of the atmosphere will allow for a dome of warmer temperatures and clearer skies to make its way through the Central Plains. Temperatures will likely dance around triple digits with heat indices upwards of 105° especially toward the second half of next week.
