Hundreds attend ‘heartbreaking’ candlelight vigil for missing Lincoln man

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hundreds gathered at Pioneers Park on Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil as the search continues for Tyler Goodrich.

“He wouldn’t give up on anybody he cared or loved for, no matter what,” said Rachel Barth, a lifelong friend of Goodrich. “So we’re not going to do that either; we’re not going to give up on him.”

Goodrich, 35, went missing from his home on Friday night.

Family, friends and law enforcement have been searching for him since.

The sheriff’s office said the last thing law enforcement can confirm is that his phone was active around 7:45 p.m. Friday at his home.

The vigil was a chance to bring together everyone who cares about Goodrich.

“Having a couple hundred people here, it shows how much people really care, how much people love and how much Tyler loved,” said the Rev. Darin Corder, who helped organize the vigil. “It’s a circle effect; it truly is.”

It was an emotional scene as family and friends spoke about the ongoing search.

“It’s nice to see so many people show up and support the family, support Tyler’s friends,” Barth said. “But it’s also heartbreaking. We don’t want to be here.”

Everyone in attendance prayed for Goodrich’s safe return home as the search moves into a fifth day.

Barth had a message for Goodrich: “We love you, we want you to come home, we’re doing everything we can to find you.”

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact 402-441-6500.
