Hundreds follow LFR on free app after it help saves life of Lincoln man

Lincoln Fire and Rescue officials said the agency saw a spike in followers of an app that lets citizens connect with their scanner and get notifications of emergencies around the city, after that app helped save a Lincoln man’s life.
LFR spokeswoman Nancy Crist said developers of the app, PulsePoint, noticed an increase of about 400 followers after Lincoln media outlets covered the story Thursday night.
Channel 8 Eyewitness News interviewed Dave Thurber, a public works employee and retired Lincoln Police Officer, who was working near the airport Wednesday afternoon when he got an alert on PulsePoint that someone nearby was in cardiac arrest.
Officials said his quick response and willingness to help saved the man’s life.
There are more than 17,000 PulsePoint users connect to Lincoln Fire and Rescue.
