Hundreds stop by to see Santa’s Landing in downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A festive scene took over the tower square downtown on Sunday, and hundreds participated in the festivities.

Santa’s Landing included games, pictures, sleigh rides, cookies and hot chocolate, as well as a visit from the big man himself.

Santa Claus said he came all the way from the North Pole to meet kids here in Lincoln.

“I just love talking to the boys and girls and love to find out what they want for Christmas,” he said. “It just makes Santa very happy.”

Todd Ogden, president and CEO of the Downtown Lincoln Association, says the event helps attract more people to businesses in the area.

“We want the kids just to experience downtown the way that they’ll always remember, and know that there’s a lot of places they can enjoy when they come downtown,” he said.

Santa said he looks forward to making these appearances every year, and he does his best to convert the nonbelievers.

He said if he could ask for anything for Christmas, it would be peace on Earth.

If you missed your chance to see him, Santa’s mailbox will be set up at the landing on the corner of 13th and P streets throughout next week.
