Husker baseball cruises to run-rule victory in fifth straight series win

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska baseball team won its fifth straight series Saturday, run-ruling Purdue 14-2 in eight innings at Alexander Field in West Lafayette.
As a team, the Huskers tallied 15 hits and committed zero errors, while the Boilermakers racked up six hits and committed three errors.
Will Jesske led the Big Red with a 4-for-5 showing from the plate, hitting a double and scoring 3 runs.
Dylan Carey, Case Sanderson and Cael Frost each had a team-high two RBIs, while Frost blasted a two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Jackson Brockett (3-3) got the win on the mound for the Huskers, pitching two innings while allowing no runs and two hits. Brockett also fanned two batters.
With the win, the Huskers moved to 28-27 on the season and now have a 15-15 record in the Big Ten.
Nebraska will look ahead to the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha on Tuesday.
As of Saturday night, Nebraska is unofficially the No. 8 seed in the tournament.
With the Big Ten’s new pool play tournament, Nebraska would be in Pool A with the No. 1 and No. 12 seeds.
