LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Men’s basketball team is headed to Spain for a foreign tour this week as they leave on Friday, July 28th.

This trip marks the first foreign trip since the Huskers went to Italy in 2019 and the second time they travelled to Spain.  Their last trip was 2015.

The team will visit Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona on the trip while playing in one game in each city against local teams.

Their games are scheduled for July 30th in Madrid, August 2nd in Valencia and August 5th in Barcelona.

“These trips to me, it’s all about bonding, it’s all about team chemistry,” Said Head Coach Fred Hoiberg. “An opportunity to go over to a beautiful country and really learn a lot about their culture.”

The team has trips planned in each city.  They plan to visit the Royal Palace of Madrid, the largest aquarium in Europe in Valencia, and wrap up the trip by visiting the La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Coach Hoiberg did announce that they will be without a few key players while on the trip.

They will be without Josiah Allick, Sam Hoiberg and Blaise Keita who won’t be playing, but will still be travelling with the squad.

Fan favorite, Keisei Tominaga, and new addition Reink Mast, will not be attending the trip as they will be playing with their respective national teams.

The games are currently not scheduled to be streamed but you can follow along the trip on Huskers.com
