Husker fans flock to Rosie’s Sports Bar and Grill to root on Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Rosie’s Sports Bar and Grill in Lincoln is usually always filled with sports fans, but the crowd on Wednesday night explained how extra special it was.
This was thanks to the Nebraska Women’s Basketball team’s first NCAA Tournament game.
“Just excited to see them play, glad they made the tournament,” said Jim Andreas, a season ticketholder.
“With the end of the season, I wasn’t sure that was going to happen, but we got in, and now we’ve got to win,” said Jack Knickman, another Huskers fan.
“Just to have the girls in the NCAA is big,” exclaimed Ann, a fan at Rosie’s.
She kept track of the game through the night with a positive attitude throughout.
“With tonight’s game, I’m cautiously optimistic. I hope they can pull this off and get to the very end and make it to the first round of the actual tournament,” said Ann.
Her co-worker Diane was a bit more confident.
“Looking for a big win, a big win!” said Diane.
A few hours later, they did. The Huskers beat the Richmond Spiders.

Many were in attendance at Wednesday’s watch party, giving their attention to their favorite people on the screen.
“Got to go with Britt, Britt Prince. She’s a Nebraska girl, and she’s unshakeable,” said Ann.
“I like to keep an eye on Amy Williams’ outfits, she’s always very classy!” said Diane about the girl’s coach.
Some thinking about players who were not on the court for the first game.
“She’s not playing, her name is Potts, Natalie Potts, she got hurt and couldn’t play this year, but looking forward to her next year, that’s for sure,” said Knickman.
Rosie’s server, Avery, agreed with him, adding her own positive thoughts for the Nebraska Men’s game on Friday.
“And we’re going to win tomorrow!” she said.
High hopes from a group of Husker faithful.
