Husker fans head to PBA to watch volleyball championship from Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Pinnacle Bank Arena held a watch party for all the Husker fans who couldn’t make it to the game in Florida on Sunday
After the women’s basketball game, the arena’s doors were open to anyone who wanted to watch volleyball, for free.
One fan, Haley Hanson, said despite not going to Florida, she was glad to catch the game here.
“I couldn’t afford to go to Tampa, so I just wanted to experience the volleyball game with Husker fans,” she said. “Our team is just amazing this year, and it’s crazy that we don’t have any seniors, so we’ll be probably even better next year.”
Many fans said they’re excited that popularity for volleyball has gone up in recent years.
“I like the fact that they’re really competitive,” Terry Rogers said. “I started watching it decades ago in Kansas … and got hooked that way. That was in the 80’s and I’ve been a fan ever since.”

Justine Kline and his family were visiting Lincoln from Kentucky and stopped by to see the game.
Kline says the fans are what make watching the game worth it.
“We have the best fans in the nation, unquestionably,” he said. “We’re here to support women’s sports, volleyball mainly and basketball as well.”
His wife, Rebekah Kline, said they usually have to cheer the team on from much farther away.
“It’s just an honor to be here in Pinnacle Bank to watch with Husker fans locally,” she said.
The Kline family said they love getting to know all the players and seeing them work as a team.
And win or lose, they’re happy to show up and represent Nebraska.
“Breaking records here, world records in the state of Nebraska,” Justin said. “So very proud of this state and athletics here. Go Big Red!”
