Husker fans react to firing of Tim Miles

Tim Miles’ future with Nebraska basketball came to an end on Tuesday.

Fans are reacting after Bill Moos made the announcement.

“He should have been given another chance next year but as far as what he was given at the beginning of the year and not being able to produce and bring them to the tournament, I don’t think he should be given much more of a chance,” UNL student, David Frohardt said.

Nebraska basketball lost to TCU in the second round of the NIT, ending their season with a final record of 19-17.

One fan said Miles had the team this year to make it far, but just couldn’t do it.

“I know we had some unfortunate stuff with injuries going on but before that the team wasn’t really performing either and in my opinion we probably had the most talent that Nebraska has ever had on a team,” UNL student, Jaden Schovanec said.

A lot of fans commented on Tim Miles character throughout his seven seasons at Nebraska.

“Definitely a class act, people are going to miss him as a person because he is a character and I know the kids love him but I think as a coach we are ready to move on to the next chapter,” said Lincoln resident, Brandon Moller.

“Yes, I like him but I don’t think he is what Nebraska needs, I think just looking back at what he has done in 7 years and it’s time he moves on,” said UNL student, Alec Kratky.

“The last couple weeks seeing them fight a little bit and you know it seems like they are fighting for the coach a little bit and I can respect that but at the same time sometimes being a well liked person doesn’t get the job done,” said Schovanec.

The next step is welcoming a new Nebraska basketball head coach and one fan says he has an idea.

“My fingers are crossed for Hoiberg but I think anyone else would be great too, we have a lot of great names on that list but I’m hoping for Freddy,” said Moller.
