Husker fans react to loss against Iowa
The husker football season came to an end in Iowa City on Black Friday, but fans have a lot to like heading into the off-season.
It was year number one of the Scott Frost era, and there was no doubt about how much the team improved as the season went on, culminating in Friday’s close loss to Iowa on a last second field goal.
“You could just see them getting better and better and we went through the rain and the snow and the heat and they just kept going and going and going. It was the best season ever, it was just so exciting. The fans did not leave last week, it was freezing, but they didn’t leave because we knew they could do it,” said Husker fan Dawn Elliott.
With the consistent play of freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez, husker fans are looking forward to great things down the road.
“I totally think Adrian Martinez is going to be… I mean in three years he has the potential to be the Heisman front runner, not next year, I think he still has some time to build off the skills and learn the playbook a little bit but I think maybe in a couple years he’s going to be up there,” said Husker fan Eric Kobca.
The fans are happy to see the progress the team has made under coach frost, but it is a bittersweet moment realizing this is the last time Nebraska will take the field until April.
Looking forward, the husker spring game will be held in April, and the first game of the 2019 regular season is set for August 31st against South Alabama.
