Husker fans should buckle up and consider alternative routes to Memorial Stadium

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Fans attending the Husker football game on Friday are being reminded to stay safe and prepare for heavy traffic.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation is recommending that drivers prepare for potential traffic slowdowns and has provided a few suggestions.
Drivers arriving in Lincoln on Interstate 80 from the west should take exit 397. Go south to Rosa Parks Way into downtown Lincoln.
Those coming from the east should use the left two lanes of I-80 near Nebraska Crossing so Black Friday shoppers can use the right lane.
Once you get to Lincoln, take exit 401 into downtown.
When leaving the game, you should avoid exit 409 between Lincoln and Waverly, as it may be closed in the event of heavy interstate traffic.
And don’t leave downtown Lincoln right away. Spending some extra time in town may allow traffic to ease up, officials said.
There are several active construction projects within Lincoln. Check out the City of Lincoln’s street closures map.
Officials also urge prioritizing safety on the road, especially as the holidays are expected to increase traffic on the interstate.
They advise to put phones away, wear seat belts, and allow distance between vehicles.
