Husker football wraps up day nine of fall camp
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska football continues to prepare for their upcoming campaign, with toady marking the ninth day of preseason camp.
With all the focus being on who’s going to start under center for the Huskers, the running backs and wide receivers have been positioning themselves for a special season.
“My objective right now as the running backs coach is to be sure we have three guys that can go win a game for us,” said running backs coach E.J. Barthel.
Junior running back Gabe Ervin Jr. said focusing on the details is the most important step towards success.
“We’re taking the details up a notch,” said Ervin. “Last year, we didn’t go out the way we wanted to go and we’re just dialing in the details even more. We’re being nit-picky with a lot of things and that’s going to make us great.”
Transfer wide receivers Isaiah Neyor and Jahmal Banks have added a lot of length and athleticism to a hungry wide receiver room.
“There’s a standard that’s being risen every single day,” said wide receivers coach Garret McGuire. “Isaiah and Jahmal are leading that charge from a physical and a mental standpoint.”
Neyor feels any of the receivers can step on the field on game day and compete at a high level.
“We have a lot of explosive athletes in that room,” said Neyor. “It gives us the confidence to know that when they’re out there, they can go do what they need to do at a high level.”
We also got another look at quarterback Dylan Raiola, who continued to impress.
