Husker game day forecast for Kansas City; storm chances Labor Day weekend
Here at home, temperatures will be slightly warmer Thursday and Friday in the lower 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. Storm chances increase for Labor Day weekend.
But first, we’re going to break down the game plan for weather on your way to Kansas City.
A large area of rain and thunderstorms will be sliding just past Kansas City early to the west and south. That will leave the area mostly cloudy from here to there.
Despite some of the morning clouds, afternoon temperatures in Kansas City will warm to about the lower 80s. That will leave the kickoff temperature a little warmer in the middle 70s with very light winds.

Clouds eventually clear through the afternoon for a mostly clear evening as fans settle into this game Thursday night.
And in all this forecasting for football, some high school sport seasons kickoff back here at home tonight: that includes some high school football.
Temperatures this evening in Lincoln will be comfortable as the sun goes down, mostly in the 70s for temperatures with light winds throughout these games.
After possible morning patchy fog, temperatures will be closer to average both Thursday and Friday.
While rain chances hold off until Labor Day weekend for most, there will be some scattered strong to potentially severe storms from western into southwestern Nebraska Friday afternoon into Friday night. The main threats would be hail and damaging wind with this Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk.
Storm chances throughout Saturday morning and afternoon will continue into Sunday, and even Monday morning. It won’t be any consistent rains, but storms at times will be possible over the weekend.
Early September will have another slightly warmer day by Tuesday before temperatures fall to the 70s again.
