Husker history: Nebraska Men’s basketball earns highest Big Ten seed following overtime win vs. Iowa

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —Nebraska basketball had a historic Sunday, defeating Iowa in overtime, while tying a program high in wins.
It was a back and forth contest, where Nebraska took a double digit lead in the second half. Eventually, that lead shrunk. After a couple of missed free throws late, that opened the door for Iowa.
The Hawkeyes tied the game at 70 with a three pointer with 2.7 remaining.
So, free basketball was played in Lincoln.
The star of overtime was Cale Jacobsen, who knocked down two three pointers.
It was knotted at 75, and then Nebraska closed the game on a 9-0 run, defeating Iowa 84-75 in overtime.
Jacobsen, Hoiberg, and Sandfort all scored 15 points each. It was a career high for Jacobsen, as well as recording a career high in rebounds.
The Huskers improved to 26-5 on the season, and secured a 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
It’s the program’s best conference finish in the Big Ten era and since tying for second in the Big Eight in 1992-93.
