Husker Motorsports Team Competes In SAE Competition

Over 100 college teams including UNL came together at Air Park to race a car they put together in just one year.
“Yesterday we did three dynamic events, skid pad which is just a, skid pad is more of a figure eight race. Acceleration which is just a straight line and then auto cross which is shorter endurance race,” project manager Dalton Engelbart said.
The competition started on the 19th at air park with static events including presentation, design and cost analysis and continued into dynamic events on Friday.
The team worked together for a year to conceive, design, and fabricate a formula style competition vehicle.
On Saturday the team faced the endurance test which is worth the most points in the competition.
“We have a 22 kilometer distance we have to cover and each driver covers half of that. So I have seven laps I have to do. Lap times I’ve been hearing today are over two minutes so it might be about 20 minutes I’ll be in the car,” driver Kyle Bohling said.
The UNL Husker Motorsports team finished 8th overall.
