Husker nation ‘shows up and shows out’ for softball fan day
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Husker fans got to meet this year’s softball team Saturday at the Hawks Championship Center.
Hundreds turned out for the event, where they heard from players about their experience on the team.
There was also an opportunity to meet players one on one and have them sign posters, softballs and other gear.
Ava Bredwell, a junior catcher, said she loves being able to connect with fans on “a level playing field.”
“It’s really special,” she said. “There’s so many people here to support us, and Husker nation always shows up and shows out.”
Preston Zach said he’s been a fan for years.
“I grew up a Husker fan,” he said. “Softball and football were my two favorite sports growing up.”
Kris McMullen, another fan, said she used to play softball at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
“I played against coach Revelle myself,” she said. “We’re just excited. Most excited we got season tickets. We’ve been praying for them, and we got them.”
McMullen said she wants her family to love the game as much as she does.
“We brought all the grandkids,” she said. “It’s just something that they love to go with us. We try to take them to as many games as we can so they can appreciate the game and appreciate the hard work that those kids put in to be good, to be great.”
The Huskers’ first game will be against Washington on Thursday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
