Husker quarterback Jeff Sims impresses at Big Ten Media Days
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (KLKN) – Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims has quickly shed the new guy persona as he prepares to lead the offense this season.
The Georgia Tech transfer will take his first snaps in a Husker game on Aug. 31 against Minnesota.
He said at Big Ten Media Days that fans can expect an explosive, violent, relentless and disciplined offense from the Big Red.
“I’m excited and I’m ready to get to camp, you know, get better every day,” Sims said.

He doesn’t take the honor of being the Huskers’ quarterback lightly. He said you don’t just represent the university but Nebraska as a whole.
“It is a real honor, and I’m very blessed to be in that position,” Sims said. “I’m just ready to take it head on and give everything I have to the state of Nebraska.”
Head coach Matt Rhule called Sims a triple threat, offering high praise not only for what he sees from Sims on the field, but also the mind inside the man.
“It’s not really about who has the best arms,” Rhule said. “It’s about who has the best brain, the best mind set, the best feel for the game, who has the mental strength to overcome the physical beating that you take. So I think Jeff has all those things. I think Jeff’s an NFL player if he will just continue to develop.”
