Husker volleyball’s Lexi Rodriguez meets with fans

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Husker volleyball libero Lexi Rodriguez met up with fans in Lincoln on Sunday.

U.S. Cellular hosted the event at its location on O Street as part of Rodriguez’s name, image and likeness partnership.

Rodriguez helped bring the Huskers to a national runner-up finish last year and in 2021. She’s also a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Rodriguez said she enjoys having these kinds of “off-the-court” interactions with fans to hear their stories.

“I feel like there’s always a story or connection, especially being in Nebraska,” she said. “You find people that know someone you went to high school with.”

Rodriguez also likes to show fans that players are “real people.”

“They get a lot of joy from it, just being able to talk to us for a few seconds,” she said.

Rodriguez said she’s grateful to Nebraska fans for all they’ve done to make the sport of volleyball what it is today.

She’s hoping that younger generations will continue to grow the game.
