LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska volleyball star Merritt Beason will continue her career at the professional level in Atlanta.

Beason, a senior at Nebraska, was picked first by the Atlanta Vibe in the Pro Volleyball Federation draft on Monday.

The Vibe traded with the Indy Ignite for the first pick to select Beason.

The Alabama native transferred to Nebraska from Florida in 2023.

Since then, she’s garnered several accolades, including the American Volleyball Coaches Association Region Player of the Year award in 2023.

So far this season, Beason has continued her dominance on the court, totaling 288 kills on 0.246% shooting.

Beason and the other Nebraska volleyball seniors were honored at Saturday night’s game against Wisconsin.

The Huskers have two remaining regular season games this week against Penn State and Maryland.
