Husker women thump Northwestern, gear up for Rutgers in Big Ten Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska women’s basketball team finished off its regular season with a bang Sunday, stomping Northwestern 98-77 at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Chicago.
The Huskers shot 53% from the floor and 45% from beyond the arc, while the Wildcats shot 42% and 29% from deep.
Nebraska opened up the game by outscoring Northwestern 31-18 in the first quarter. Alexis Markowski scored 16 of those points in-route to a 30-point outing.
Alberte Rimdal tallied 17 points, while Britt Prince scored 15. Jessica Petrie racked up 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Nebraska.
Markowski and Petrie each grabbed eight boards, while Petrie also dished out a team-high seven assists.
Throughout the regular season, Markowski led the Huskers in points (488), rebounds (236) and blocks (23).
Prince and Callin Hake each dished out 91 assists to lead the Big Red.
As a team, the Huskers 44.5% from the floor and 37% from beyond the arc, while holding their opponents to 42% from the floor and 33% from deep.
Nebraska will look ahead to the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday. The 10-seeded Huskers will matchup against No. 15 Rutgers in Indianapolis.
