Huskers hiring Kentucky wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts, Rhule confirms

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska football has pulled in its new wide receivers coach.
Daikiel Shorts Jr. will be joining the Huskers’ coaching staff, head coach Matt Rhule confirmed Wednesday.
Shorts, currently the wide receivers coach at Kentucky, is already familiar with offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen’s style.
He played for Holgorsen at West Virginia and coached under him at Houston.
“It is exciting to add Daikiel Shorts Jr. to our offensive staff,” Rhule said in a press release. “Daikiel is someone who has played for and coached with Coach Holgorsen, and Dana really trusts and believes in him.”

Shorts spent three years as a coach at Houston before going to Kentucky.
In his playing days, he was a standout receiver at West Virginia, leading the Mountaineers in receiving in three of his four years.
Shorts said he was grateful for the chance to work at Nebraska.
“When you walk into this place, you can feel the history and tradition associated with Nebraska Football and what it means to everyone inside the program and the fan base.”
