I-80 closes for 36 miles after crash in central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Wednesday afternoon crash shut down a long stretch of Interstate 80 in central Nebraska.

About 3:30 p.m., the Nebraska Department of Transportation reported the crash in a social media post.

It happened near the Elm Creek exit.

Authorities said I-80 was shut down in both directions from Kearney to Lexington, a 36-mile closure.

About 7 p.m., the Nebraska State Patrol said all lanes were back open.

There are no details available yet about the crash itself.
