UPDATE: Driver injured after car crashes into field off I-80

A Channel 8 reporter on the scene said it appeared the vehicle launched over a creek and crashed through a line of trees before coming to rest in a field.

WAVERLY, Neb. (KLKN) – One person was injured after a car left the road and crashed into a field along I-80 near Waverly.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 414.

Part of the road was closed for a short time as emergency responders worked to free the driver from the vehicle.

The extent of the driver’s injuries are unclear at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
