LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A semitrailer fire caused an hours-long closure on Interstate 80 in central Nebraska on Sunday.

At around 5:50 p.m., Nebraska 511 announced that I-80 westbound was closed at mile marker 291, just west of Shelton, due to the fire.

Nebraska 511 also shared photos of the fire, which left heavy smoke in the area.

It’s unknown what led up to the fire or if there were any injuries.

On Monday at 6 a.m., Nebraska 511 said that I-80 was partially reopened.  The right lane and westbound entrance ramp are still closed.

Officials ask that drivers keep left and reduce speed in the area.
