Nativity scene on Boston Common is vandalized, just days before Christmas

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — According to WCVB, Boston police are investigating the vandalization of the Boston Common’s Nativity scene.

The Nativity scene is a Christian symbol used to represent the birth of Jesus.

WCVB shared visuals from the scene showing the words “Jesus was Palestinian” written in white paint over the display.

Nick Camarada of Boston shared in a WCVB interview, “It’s really sad to see. You know, the war needs to end.” “The Palestinians are people. They have a right to life like anyone else.”

David DeMattia shared with WCVB, “I look at it like this: It is a way of saying it is a message, and we need some help. It is a cry for help. It is a cry for help around the holidays at Christmas time.”

WCVB said that a Boston Parks and Recreation crew painted over the graffiti shortly after its happening, but the message remains.

More information will be shared once it becomes available.
