UPDATE: I-80 open across the entire state of Nebraska

Update:

Interstate 80 has re-opened in all directions across the entire state of Nebraska, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.  Blizzard like conditions and numerous accidents forced the closure of I-80 Saturday afternoon and remained closed most of Sunday morning.   Driver are urged to use extreme caution and leave plenty of distance between vehicles.   

 Drivers are still urged to take caution on the roadways, as some areas could still be slick. 

In Lincoln, the main roads have been cleared but they are very slick because a layer of ice formed beneath the snow.  You can’t see the lines on the street because a layer of snow covers the roads in most areas.   Side streets haven’t been cleared and cars have been getting stuck on  side roads.  Use caution while driving.  Don’t drive if you don’t need to this morning.
