Identity of man found dead west of Lincoln released

Authorities say body shows signs of physical trauma

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man whose body deputies found Monday as Gene Oltman.

An autopsy to learn more about how the 78-year-old died was set for 11:30 Tuesday morning.

So far, we know investigators found evidence of physical trauma to his body.

Authorities were called around 8 a.m. Monday to a home near Southwest 40th and West A Streets.

The sheriff’s office tells us Oltman’s 68-year-old wife was the only other person home at the time of his death.

Officials have since said on Twitter that there is no known threat to the public.
