‘I’m not going to give up hope’: Tyler Goodrich’s husband breaks his silence

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Tyler Goodrich’s husband spoke out for the first time Wednesday on the missing person case that has captivated the Capital City for nearly 50 days.

Law enforcement has had no solid leads since Goodrich disappeared from his home the night of Nov. 3.

Thousands have speculated on what could have happened to him.

His husband of six years, Marshall Vogel, said on that Friday night, Goodrich picked up a pizza.

They were having a movie night with their kids.

“And then the rest of the night happened,” Vogel said. “We got into an argument, and I ended up calling 911, and Tyler left out of the garage.”

Four days after Goodrich went missing, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said Vogel was no longer cooperating in the investigation.

But a couple of days after that, authorities backtracked.

Vogel said the situation was surprising to him.

“We let them search the house,” he said. “I told them that it was an open door, they can come anytime they want.”

Vogel said law enforcement searched the property multiple times and served a search warrant.

“I do understand that the spouse is the first suspect, and so I do understand them putting that pressure,” he said. “But I’m really glad that we have moved past that.”

The couple adopted two teenage boys together.

Vogel said it’s been tough to see the speculations running rampant.

“Seeing my family be hurt by some of the stuff online, it’s been terrible,” he said.

Channel 8 asked Vogel where he thought Goodrich had gone.

“I just have no idea,” he said. “He left the house, and I was on the phone with 911. Anything after that, I just don’t know. And there’s enough speculation all over the internet that I don’t need to speculate on that.”

Wednesday marked 47 days since Goodrich went missing.

Vogel said he believes his husband is still alive.

“I refuse not to,” he said. “He needs to come back and be a father to our kids. He’s my kids’ dad. I’m not going to give up hope.”

Vogel said he has been trying to stay strong for his kids.

He said in some in some ways, it feels like Nov. 4, but “life doesn’t stop.”

“We still have parent-teacher conferences, and finals and just our day to day,” Vogel said. “So that has helped me just keep them moving forward. Because life still is going on even though it stopped for me.”

Vogel has not been out to help search for Goodrich; he said he thought it was important to stay close to their kids to help them cope.

But he said he’s been doing what he can. He ordered safety vests for those who joined search parties.

Vogel said he’s very thankful for “all of the volunteers and friends and family, everyone helping get this message out.”

“It’s been amazing to see Lincoln come together,” he said.

Vogel had a message for his husband: “There are so many people that love you. And just call your dad.”
