‘Improper’ smoking sparked fire at northeast Lincoln apartment

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a fire Monday morning at an apartment in the Havelock Neighborhood.

The fire was reported around 11:30 a.m. near North 66th Street and Havelock Avenue.

LFR said the fire was accidentally started due to “improper” smoking with a home oxygen tank nearby.

The flames caused about $1,500 in damage, according to LFR.

One person was taken to a hospital, and another person drove themselves to be treated for their injuries.
