Increasing Clouds, Near Record Highs on Monday
Monday will continue the trend of warmer temperatures, reaching near-record highs during the afternoon. High temperatures cool as precipitation chances arrive for the middle of the work week.
Temperatures will be mild this evening across southeast Nebraska. Overnight lows by Monday morning are expected to be close to 10 degrees above average.
Mild tonight for Lincoln, though best to keep the jacket handy after sunset!
Cloud cover will build throughout the day on Monday, with a chance for a quick sprinkle or two during the afternoon. Winds could pick up underneath any dissipating showers as well.
Highs tomorrow will race to the middle to upper 80s. Winds will not be unbearable, but a few gusts up to 25 miles per hour remain a possibility.
Clear skies for the morning commute will turn partly to mostly cloudy throughout the afternoon. A stray sprinkle or two is possible as well. Highs will approach record levels in the Capital City.
Long-range models are still aiming for Tuesday into Wednesday for our next best chance at precipitation. Tuesday will feature scattered showers before a more organized system arrives for Wednesday. Models keep us in the rain so far for southeast Nebraska, but there will be a wintry component to this disturbance off to the north.
Chances for a wintry mix remain possible on Wednesday and Thursday, especially as overnight lows reach close to freezing. We should hopefully see some meaningful precipitation out of this more active weather pattern, with the chance for over an inch of rainfall by next weekend for southeast Nebraska. After a brief trip to the 40s, highs return to the 50s and 60s through Easter.
