Inmate at Omaha prison escapes custody

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An inmate is missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha.

Michael Detty, 36, left the facility on Monday, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Authorities found his electronic monitor across the street, the department said.

Detty was sentenced in Clay County in 2021 to at least five years for theft by unlawful taking and possession of a stolen firearm.

He had a parole hearing scheduled for October.

Detty is a 5-foot-9, 240-pound white man with brown hair and hazel eyes.

If you know where he is, contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.

The facility is the least restrictive type in the state prison system. Inmates can go to work, school or religious services with prior approval.
