Inmate convicted of first-degree murder dies at Lincoln prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 39-year-old inmate died Friday at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said Ryan Poe was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in Douglas County.

His sentence began on July 12, 2006.

The cause of death is unknown, but Poe was being treated for a medical condition, officials said.

A grand jury will investigate Poe’s death, as required by Nebraska law.
